Joyiamma Baby

Joyiamma Baby, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and beloved sister, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2025. She was born on May 28, 1940, in Kottarakara, Kerala, India, to Kariyattu Geevarghese Thomas and Thankamma Thomas.

She married Pastor Baby Varghese on May 12, 1960. Together, they faithfully served the Lord for almost 50 years in several Assemblies of God churches throughout Kerala, India.

Joyiamma is survived by her son, Pr. John (Jose) Varghese, and daughter-in-law, Elsykutty John; her daughter, Jolly (Mercy) Johnson, and son-in-law, Johnson John; her son, Pr. Thomas (Babu) Varghese, and daughter-in-law, Sherly Varghese; and her daughter, Leelamma (Kochumol) Sunny, and son-in-law, Sunny (Joji) Pappachan.

She is also survived by her grandchildren and their spouses—Jomy & Rony, Jini & Jaison, Grace & Rogin, Christine & Kyle, Jemy & Sherin, Joyce & Tony, Jermy, Rebecca (Nanma) and Hannah—and her great-grandchildren: Ashlyn, Caleb, Elza, Zachariah, Elijah, Judah, Joash, Jonathan, Nathan, Joanna and Evannah.
