Julie was born April 5, 1936 in Boston, Massachusetts. She grew up in Wakefield, MA. She graduated from nursing school in 1956 and worked at Massachusetts General Hospital in the pediatrics unit.
She married her long-time husband Robert in 1957. They relocated to the Dallas area and raised four children in Irving, Texas. After working in Dallas in nursing early in her career, she got a degree in Psychology from East Texas State University. She later went on to get a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Dallas.
After nursing early in her career, she went on to work in higher education. She worked for the University of Dallas from 1978 to 2005, rising to Associate Dean, College of Business. She worked closely with foreign students to prepare them for attending the university. She did many recruiting trips for the university in Europe and Asia. After retirement she went to work with North Lake Community College in admissions. Julie was always a great advocate for higher education.
Julie really enjoyed travel and went on her own to Europe multiple times. She also really enjoyed New Mexico, especially Santa Fe and Taos, and visited many times with her husband and children. She especially liked the Taos Pueblo and the American Indians and has consistently supported Indian schools and the Monastery of Christ in the Desert. She supported Marillac in their yearly Christmas efforts and gave regularly to the local food banks. She and her husband often spent time in their condo at Port Aransas.
Julie is survived by her sons David and Peter (Leah), her daughter Roberta, grandson Jon, and great-granddaughter Emersyn. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Stanley Allan, daughter Christine, and parents Louis and Sophia Musto.
