

Karen Jean Youngblood was born in Marshall, Texas on September 1, 1954. She left us on September 21, 2025 in Grapevine, Texas. She grew up in Jefferson, Texas. She was proceeded in death by her father, Wray Youngblood, and her mother, Charolette Harris, her brother, Mitchell Youngblood, and her sister, Rene Brune. She is survived by her husband of 51 years Gary Michael Nix, her daughter Kara Michelle Laubach, granddaughter Hattie Caroline Laubach, and grandson Christopher Michael Laubach, sisters Melissa Hall and Robbie Youngblood, brothers Robert Youngblood and David Youngblood as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Karen was a graduate of Lon Morris College, The University of Texas at Tyler, and Texas Women’s University. Karen held a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in history and education. She was a teacher and school administrator in the Coppell Independent School District for more than 20 years. In retirement some of her favorite activities were spending time with her daughter and grandchildren, going to church and Sunday school, playing cards, entertaining, reading, doing counted cross stitch, and traveling the the United States and the World. She was a wonderful wife, grandmother, daughter, sister, friend, teacher, principal, and colleague. She will truly be missed by so many.
