Mr. Kay Thomas (Kunjumon) was born on May 24, 1945, in Pariyaram, Kottayam, Kerala. He was the fourth of five children born to the late Kuruvilla Abraham and the late Chinnamma Abraham (Kuziyathu Thoompunkal Family).
He completed his high school education in St. Thomas High School Thottakkad, and further studies in Calcutta, India. He worked for Lee and Muirhead Shipping Corporation in Calcutta for ten years.
Kunjumon married the late Sosamma Thomas (Kunjumol) and migrated to the U.S. in 1972. They settled in Upstate New York and were blessed with one daughter, Suja. After his wife’s untimely death from cancer, he relocated to Dallas, Texas in 1985.
He enrolled in El Centro College in Dallas and completed his Radiology Technician degree. He joined the Radiology Department in Parkland Hospital in 1991. While working, he continued his education and attained additional certification in MRI technology. He remained on staff at Parkland as an MRI technician until his retirement in 2010.
Kunjumon married Mariamma Thomas in 1998 and settled in Irving then Carrollton, Texas. They were long-time members of St. Mary’s Orthodox Church of India in Carrollton.
He remained a doting father and had a close relationship with his loving daughter and son-in-law. More than anything, he adored watching his granddaughters grow.
He always made time for his extended family and opened his home to many over the years. He hosted his nieces and nephews who frequently gathered at his house for holidays, parties, or just to spend time. He was an avid sports fan and loved watching the Dallas Cowboys play.
Kunjumon was called to his Heavenly abode on April 6th, 2024. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His quick smile and infectious laugh will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Mariamma Thomas, his daughter, Suja Jacob, his Son-in-Law, Biju Jacob, and his granddaughters, Sosanna and Sarah Jacob.
We would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support during this difficult time. Kunjumon’s memory and his wonderful legacy will live in our hearts forever.
