Khun Teng Chhoa passed away on March 19, 2022. He was born on February 1, 1941 in Takeo Province, Cambodia. He married Cher Heng in 1968, and they had 5 children together. Khun and his family arrived in America in 1982 as Khmer Rouge refugees and lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico for 16 years. In 1998, they moved to Dallas, Texas and lived there for 24 years.
Khun was known for his kind heart, selflessness, positivity, and sense of humor. He was devoted to his family and helped to raise many of his grandchildren while their parents were at work. Khun had many passions: he loved gardening fruit trees and sharing stories with his family and friends; he enjoyed watching wrestling; he had a sweet tooth for desserts and loved to eat ice cream with his grandchildren; he made traditional desserts for the family. When a grandchild got hurt, he tended to their wounds and provided them with a treat from the candy jar afterward. We always laughed about how when he had something he particularly liked, - mangos, sweat pants, pastries, etc.- he would want to buy a large quantity of it. When there was perfect weather, he enjoyed going out for walks with his family. He was smart and knew the following languages: Teochew, Mandarin, Khmer, Vietnamese, Thai, and English. Being multilingual, Khun enjoyed watching international shows and movies with his family. He loved Paris By Night 101, and his favorite singer was Huong Lan. Despite English not being his first language, he would do his best to communicate and joke around with his family.
Khun Chhoa is survived by his wife; sons Randy and Steven; daughters Cindy, Linda, and Mouy; grandchildren Jenny, Jason, Davis, Vanessa, Amanda, Victor, Katy, Britney, and Vivienne. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. We would like to thank all family and friends who have provided us support during this difficult time.
The memorial service will be held on March 25, 2022 at 10:00 am at Rolling Oaks Funeral Home in Coppell, TX.
