Kirsten Suzanne Goodner Chapman was a beloved mother, daughter, sister, auntie, and friend. She left this earth much too early on October 3, 2021, in Lewisville, Texas, surrounded by her loved ones, at the age of 46.

Our family is filled with grief over all the tiniest attributes that made our sister and daughter so cherished. Her love of her family, her students, her travels, her country, her artistry, her energy, her pragmatism, her attention to detail, all the special ways she decorated her home, her love of cats and silly jokes and crazy ideas that were laughable, the hugs that tickled us, and her “Sundowner” libations on the patio with mom and dad watching the sunset.

Her greatest and proudest enjoyment and achievement in life was her two children, Jacob and Madeline, and watching them mature into adulthood. Her intense devotion to motherhood and their travels together were the highlight of her life.

She was a respected educator in the Coppell Independent School District, where she spent several years teaching at Valley Ranch Elementary before transitioning to Coppell Middle School East. She forged lasting relationships and touched the lives of many students and faculty with her dedication and charisma.

None of us will ever get over the unfairness of her early death. There doesn’t seem to be any great philosophical reasoning that can fill our hearts and end our bereavement. Her mother is broken, her father inconsolable, her brothers saddened by the loss of their beloved companion.

Kirsten is survived and lovingly remembered by her children Jacob and Madeline, her mother Marlene, her father David, her brother Derek, his spouse April, their daughter Adrienne, her brother Damon, his spouse Shona, their sons Ethan, Cole and Dean, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A memorial will be held Sunday, October 10, 2021 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Rolling Oaks Funeral Home, 400 Freeport Pkwy, Coppell, TX 75019.

In accordance with Kirsten’s wishes she will be cremated. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Kirsten’s memory to the charity of your choice.

Dear Jake and Maddie,
I’m a childhood friend of your Grandma. I am so sorry for your loss.
My memory of your Mom, besides going to her wedding, was when she and your Grandma came to Minnesota to go to the Mall of America. We had such a great time that weekend. Hold all your memories close to your heart. She was an amazing woman. With deep sympathy and prayers.

My name is Pragnya. I was Ms.Chapman’s student in Valley Ranch Elementary for 5th grade (2017-2018). She was truly the most amazing teacher and human being. Every day in her class was like a fairytale because she made each and every lesson so engaging and fun. 5th grade was a tough year for me, and she was always so supportive and caring. I would walk into her classroom and expect to see her beautiful and pretty smile awaiting to teach us. I’m so very grateful that I’ve known such an amazing and loving human being and I’m even more proud to have called her my teacher. Sending my love and condolences to her children and family, and may her soul Rest In Peace. We will miss you Ms.Chapman!!

Sweet, sweet Maddie,

I am so sorry to hear that you have lost your precious mom. You are such a strong, kind girl and I have enjoyed watching you mature into the lovely young lady that you are. I am sure your mom had a lot to do with this. The time you had with her was a blessing. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers. Love you!

Dearest Jacob and Maddie,
I am so sorry you lost your Mom much too soon. That is not fair. You already know this, but she was a diamond. Bright, brilliant, tough, gorgeous… she radiated light everywhere she went. I haven’t seen her in a very long time, but all of this was evident even when she/I were younger.

Watching you grow through her eyes, it’s clear you both inherited those same qualities. She is within you and always will be. You have so many people who love you and support you. I am sending prayers to you for strength, comfort, courage and peace.

Below are a couple pics of me and your mom (my cousin) when we were young. We were the same age. The first was in Wisconsin and the second in Colorado. Obviously, she is the blondie:)

Deepest sympathies from MN,
Linette & Parc

I have so many wonderful memories with Kirsten. I worked with her for 8 years at VRE, and not only is she an outstanding educator, she is just down-right an outstanding human! There are not many people that can touch as many hearts as she did. She had a true calling in education, and it showed. I’ll miss her smile, jokes, and laughter. Her dedication to her students was contagious. You couldn’t help but be a better teacher just by being around her. Kirsten, be proud of your time here on Earth, and so long until I see you again. You’re something special ❤️

I have known this beautiful woman since she was born. Her beauty was both inside and out. Her many talents and her passion showed in everything she did. She raised two wonderful talented children who through her love and guidance will allow her to continue to live on through them.
