Thampi was born to Kuriacko and Aley Analil on May 6, 1943, in Uzhavoor, Kerala, India. In 1968, he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from TKM College of Engineering in Kollam, Kerala, India. A diligent student and steadfast friend, he was also an avid volleyball player.
Thampi married Molly Joseph (Koppuzha) on June 29, 1972. They were blessed with their son Abey in 1973 and daughter Bibi in 1976. Thampi immigrated to the United States in 1979 and soon after in 1980, the rest of the family joined him in Michigan. They subsequently moved to New Jersey in 1985 and raised their children there. A devoted husband and father, Thampi was soft spoken and always encouraged his children to challenge themselves. Both Abey and Bibi pursued engineering degrees because of his influence and example.
Designing power plants and substations, Thampi worked predominantly in the power sector. He was certified as a professional engineer (PE) in Michigan, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, and was very dedicated to his career. After retirement, Thampi and Molly enjoyed traveling with friends and family. They eventually settled in Florida, where they lived until moving to Texas in 2022.
Thampi was a passionate card player, with special fondness for 28, 56 and rummy. Over the last several years, his children and grandchildren were fortunate to be taught these games by him. His gentle and sweet personality was always infectious. Quiet strength and deep integrity emanated from his calm spirit. His generous heart and irresistible, playful smile will be missed by everyone who knew him. He is much loved by many. Thampi is survived by his beloved family: his wife, Molly; his son, Abey, and daughter-in-law, Sweetha; his cherished grandchildren, Aisha, Sanjay and Nadia; and his son-in-law, Dinesh.
