Prior to attending UC Berkeley in the late ‘60s, Kỷ-Hà was educated in French schools in Vietnam. Fluent in Vietnamese, English, and French, she taught Vietnamese to American NCOs on base in Saigon. Kỷ-Hà graduated with her Masters degree from Texas Women’s University, Class of 1972. Beginning with her social work with Dallas Child Protective Services placing children for adoption, to becoming one of the first Vietnamese translators for the Dallas County courts, her award winning career in insurance; and finally, semi-retirement where she, along with her husband Giáo, held Certified Tax Preparation status, working roughly four months of the year and enjoying their retirement the other eight months. Rather than her professional work, Kỷ-Hà will be most remembered for her tireless work with the Vietnamese community in DFW since the mid 1970s and her generous heart. She thrived on helping others. Kỷ-Hà loved traveling the world with her husband, spending time with her daughters and grandchildren, enjoying a glass of Bordeaux wine, a good French bread with butter, and an adventurous book to read.
