Marina Rita Kulzer was born on March 10, 1940 in Melrose Minnesota and passed away on August 10, 2026 in Coppell Texas as Marina Kulzer Blackwood. She was the seventh of nine children born to Roman and Adelinde Kulzer. Marina grew up on her family's dairy farm in Sauk Centre Minnesota and attended a one room school house not far from the farm. She helped with chores on the farm and loved to read. Her high school years were spent in a boarding school for girls run by the Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls Minnesota. After high school she attended college and became a teacher. She taught the younger grades for many years. In mid-life the enrolled in Texas Women's University in Denton and earned a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology. She was licensed by the state of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor and worked at Denton County MHMR where taught children social and life skills. After retirement she became active in the church she loved, St. Ann Catholic Church in Coppell. She was well liked in the groups she belonged to; Daily Mass, Bible classes, prayer groups and women's spiritual direction groups.
Marina is survived by her husband of thirty-seven years George Blackwood, a brother Roman Jr. and a sister Janet. Marina is preceded in death by her parents and six of the brothers and sisters.
A Christian Wake service is planned for Wednesday August 12, 2026 at 7:00 PM at the Rolling Oaks Funeral Home in Coppell Texas (400 Freeport Pkwy. Coppell TX 75019). The Funeral Mass is planned for Thursday August 13, 2026 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Coppell Texas (180 Samuel Blvd. Coppell TX 75019). Please see the exact time in the Rolling Oaks website.
