

C.M. Mathew - lovingly known to family and friends as Mathukuttychayan or Papa. He was born march 11, 1940 to Cherukara family in Ayoor, Kerala. He was the youngest of seven children born to Sri Varghese Mathai Cherukara and Smt. Aleyamma Mathai.
He is proceeded in death by his parents and siblings: C. M. Verghese, Mariamma Philip, Annamma Varughese, Thankamma Mathew, Saramma George, and Chinnamma Thomas. He is a guy by his beloved wife of 54 years, Annamma, his precious children and their spouses, Stanley & Kavitha and Nancy & Brad, and his four cherished grandchildren: Abigail, Isabella, Keziah, and Wyatt- along with many nephew and nieces who adore their Papa deeply.
After completing his studies at Mar Thoma High School in Ayroor, he earned his B.Sc. and chemistry from the University of Bombay. He began his career as a chemist at United Carbon, India Ltd.,where he worked for 15years.
In 1971, he married Annamma Mathew in Thonniamala, and together they made their home in Bombay before immigrating to Dallas, Texas in 1980. They raised their two children, Stanley and Nancy, and may Coppell their home for the past 41 years.
He continued his professional career as chemist and laboratory manager at the Sid Richardson Research Center of Bass companies in Fort Worth, where he worked from 1980 until his retirement in 2006.
Mathukuttychayan was known for his steadfast faith, love of family and unwavering dedication to the causes he cherished most. Among those, none was greater than his service to the Lord through his beloved Mar Thoma Church of Dallas, Farmers Branch. A founding member and key pillar of the parish, he played a central role during the church’s formative years - but particularly in the fundraising and construction of its facility. He serve faithfully as a parish trustee multiple times and was an active member of the church building committee, executive committee, and senior citizen’s Fellowship.
Beyond his church and work, Papa had many passions - garden, learning, traveling, and spirited discussions about geopolitics among them. above all, he loves spending time with his family, especially his children grandchildren, nephews, and nieces. Eve playful and kind, he was the “fun uncle” everyone gravitated otoward. In recent days, the family has heard countless stories of his quiet acts of kindness, service, and generosity, many of which they had known - each one a testament to his gentle and giving spirit.
We will miss our Mathukuttychayan - our Papa - more than words can express. The pillar of family is gone, but our comfort is that he is safe in the Lord’s loving arms. We will forever treasure his memory, love, and the life lessons he so gracefully imparted to us.
