Matthew Robert Arndt, 29, passed away on Wednesday January 31, 2018. Matt was born in Columbia, Maryland on March 7, 1988 and lived in Coppell, Texas until he graduated from high school and left for college. He attended both Texas State and Texas Tech University and was proud to be called a Phi Delt. When not playing his guitar and singing, Matt enjoyed working in the aviation field and was employed by several FBO’s in Texas and California.

Matt was an amazing person with a generous heart and an infectious smile. He enjoyed fishing, snowboarding, his many guitars, adventures of any kind, and being with his friends and family.

He had lived in Austin for the past year, involved in the music industry. All of the wonderful blessings that he had were regularly shared with friends he made wherever he was living including Santa Monica, California, Columbus, Ohio, and many towns in Texas. Even though Matt wasn’t born in Texas (he got here when he was 3 months old) he was a true Texan in every way-- warm and welcoming to all he encountered on his journey.

His family will always cherish the many memories they made with Matt. Some favorites include the many trips they took together to Palm Beach Shores, where he had twenty plus years of memories with his family. Trips also to Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon (with his nephews), Las Vegas, New York City (where he hung out at all hours with a hot dog vendor), the drive up the coast of California, fishing and camping with his uncles in Florida and Michigan, baseball tournaments in many parts of the country will be forever treasured. Matt’s family took great pride in Matt’s uncanny ability to make friends with all, as he welcomed them into his life. He will be remembered by all for his warm smile, huge heart, big hugs and the ability to make everyone he met feel good about themselves.

Survivors include his loving parents, Bob and Kathy Arndt, sister, Brittany, brother, Tim and his wife Marie, and his beloved nephews, Cameron, Collin, Conner and Caleb. Matt is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins as well as his grandmother who he dearly loved. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, THE DON, who nicknamed him Ace (hence the inspiration for Matt’s well-known tattoo) and his maternal grandparents Geneva and Harmon Parker.

A memorial gathering will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 10, at Restland Coppell Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the The Sims Foundation in Austin in Matt’s name.

If you know someone who is struggling in their life, please reach out in the memory of Matthew.

Dear Bob and Kathy,
Mark and I were shocked and saddened on Sunday to hear of Matt's passing. Although it has been many years since "Matt-y Matt" was in my class, I can still picture him in my mind. We can't even imagine the pain and sorrow of loosing a child. Mark and I wish you peace in God's Promise. We hope that you both are comforted by your faith and that the Lord has brought Matt to a beautiful place of everlasting light and love.

We loved Matt and will miss him terribly. He was a kind, gentle soul and a joy to know.
A person that departs from this earth never truly leaves, for they are still alive in our hearts, through us, they live on. Matt will live forever.

We pray the Grace of God comforts you and your family in this time of unimaginable pain and sorrow.
