There are not enough words to express the love I had for this beautiful kind soul. She quickly became one of my dearest friends from work (KP COLO) . She constantly reminded me to laugh more, enjoy the small things, embrace your weirdness & speak sarcasm to the fullest. As she always said life is too precious to not be your true yourself and find your 'happy' . I am so grateful & lucky to have crossed paths with her. I will always hold her close in my heart and hope she is at peace. I miss her greatly and am sending love and kindness your way in this difficult time. It was a gift to know Melissa

I'll always remember Melissa's amazing talent and professionalism as a nurse. I've worked with few people as gifted and dedicated as she was. Above that, she had a passion for life, and refused to live hers with limitations, even though it meant her life would be shortened. As much as I miss her, and consider her death a great loss, I will always admire her spirit and her humor. She shared with me the story of how she broke her ankle while snowboarding in Utah....and then rode the board the rest of the way down the mountain "because she had to go there anyway". I'll cherish that fighting spirit and honor her memory by trying to be braver in my own life.

Melissa was an amazing person. I had the privilege of working with her once she moved to Texas. There were days when I could tell that she didn’t feel great, but she still gave her best to all of her patients.
Some people are loving at their core - it’s who they are - and I feel like that sums up Melissa.
I already miss her tremendously and I imagine that I always will.

Thank you to her family for sharing Melissa with us and with the community.
