I met Monica in 2012 during my first year as an SLP in Denton ISD. I remember that within our first conversation, I felt as if I had known Monica, my whole life. She was genuine, real; what you see is what you get. She was caring, happy, hard-working, and passionate. I enjoyed our walks in the hallways, talking about how to best support the kids in your class. You always had a smile on your face. You would stop by my office, just to say hi and ask how I'm doing. My daughter was blessed to be a part of your fantastic bilingual teachers' POD at Gonzalez. She still remembers your warm hugs, smiles, and laughter. When I moved overseas, you and I became even closer. We talked for hours on the phone, messaging each other at all hours of the day. I don't think we went more than a couple weeks for the last five years without one of us saying, "What are you up to? or "Miss you." The last message I received from Monica, said "Do you like camping?" my response was, "It depends" her response was, "lol, in a cabin, well plan for it once your back stateside and COVID, is clear! Well, take our moms too." I missed your call the day you went to the hospital, I wish I could have heard your voice one last time. I will miss you forever, my friend and will hold on to our memories. Rest in Peace.

Love you, Monica

I was a Fostergrandparent in Monica's classroom. She was a wonderful teacher! Always patient and letting kids be kids!
She was always very appreciative of my help and made me feel welcomed!
Sending light and love to her family.

I was so heartbroken to learn of Monica’s passing. She was an amazing teacher and friend. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and a very kind heart. She touched many lives, and our school was a better place because of her. I will miss her smiling face. My deepest condolences and sympathy to her beautiful family.

I was fortunate to meet this wonderfully smart and sassy teacher who loved her students. We got to work together in Denton ISD. I know she was loved by her coworkers but most important of all, her children, her students loved her. I am grateful for the span of a breath that I got to know her and befriend her. I will miss you very much, Monica. Fare thee well.

Monica was such a ray of sunshine! I met her at Gonzalez School for Young Children. The first time I met her, she approached me in the hall and struck up a conversation with me, showing that beautiful smile of hers. She was so warm and kind- I instantly felt at ease with her. For my job, I go from one building to another each day, so I don’t work at that school ever day, but she always made it a point to welcome me and make me feel like I belonged there. We talked about our children a lot- I know she loved her babies with her whole heart and always wanted the best for them. I want them to know that they were her world, and they made her so happy. I am praying for Monica’s family. May God comfort and bless you.

I met Monica when I was working at Gonzalez School for Young Children as a speech-language pathologist and she was a PreK teacher. She later told me she wanted to become an SLP and I was ecstatic when she was accepted into the program. I will miss her beautiful smile and always happy demeanor. I would have loved to be her colleague. ¡Te quiero mucho amiga y se que estas en los brazos de Dios!

To Monica’s family:
I’m so sorry for your loss. I met Monica 9 years ago when I started subbing at Gonzalez Preschool for Young Children. She was my favorite teacher to sub for! After that year, I was hired on and worked with her there until she became a full time stay-at-mom. I loved her beautiful smile! She will always be remembered and will have a special place in my heart. She will be so missed.. God bless her and watch over her precious babies.
