Olivia (Olive) Bautista Stokowski, age 66, of Lewisville, TX and formerly from Chicopee, MA was called Home on Wednesday evening, October 19, 2016 surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, cousin, friend and servant of the Lord.
Olivia was born January 8, 1950 in Pasay City, Philippines to the late Fernando Delgado Bautista of Manila, Philippines and Teofila Cartagenas Bautista of Bohol, Philippines. She had graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the Lyceum of the Philippines. She also studied Applied Theology and Religious Studies. After graduation she was employed by KBS-RPN Channel 9 in the Traffic Department in charge of airing television commercials as well as performing in the KBS choir.
Olivia came to the United States in 1977 where she met and married Henry J. Stokowski, Jr., of Chicopee, MA, in Los Angeles on September 24, 1978. They recently celebrated their 38th Anniversary. She, along with Henry, were the very proud parents of three beautiful children; daughter Eugenia Barbara Bisanti, her husband John and their three handsome boys Enzo, Emilio and Gianni Max of Milan, Italy; daughter Crystal Bernadette Thomas and her husband Robert Davidson Thomas of Philadelphia, PA and finally their son, Joseph Brian Stokowski of Holyoke, MA. Olivia, officially and proudly became a U.S. citizen on December 3, 1986 in Worcester, MA.
Later having moved to Chicopee, MA she eventually became the Director of Religious Education (DRE) at St. Anne’s in Chicopee under both the late Father Roland Galipeau and the late Father Victor Carrier as well as a Eucharistic Minister, Lector and President of the Sodality. Prior to leaving Massachusetts, Olivia and her husband were members of Mater Dolorosa in Holyoke where she also served as Eucharistic Minister and Lector.
Finally, moving down to Lewisville, TX in 2007, Olivia became a Eucharistic Minister and Lector at St. Ann’s in Coppell, TX and eventually became a Team Captain for one of the 12 PM Mass Eucharistic Minister Teams. Olivia and her husband Henry were also members of the Couples for Christ whose members helped to assist her during her last days under home hospice care. They are so blessed.
Olivia was predeceased by both her parents and Ate (Older Sister) Cora and Kuya (Older Brother) Guillermo (Memo).
Her surviving siblings in the Philippines include Ate Veronica (Bening), Ate Diana, Kuya Ben and brothers Alex and Boying. Olivia is also survived by her sisters-in-law Carol and husband Robert Bell; Christine Stokowski; Elaine and her husband Michael LaPorte; and brother-in-law Paul Stokowski.
Family will receive friends 6-9PM on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at the Rolling Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00AM on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at the St. Ann Catholic Church, 180 Samuel Blvd., Coppell. Interment will follow in the Rolling Oaks Memorial Center, Coppell.
If any last words were the most fitting description of Olivia, she was truly “A Woman of Grace”. We will truly, truly miss her.
