Paul (KunjuPaul) Kuriype was born in Kothamangalam, India, on May 2, 1944, to Varkey Kuriype and Lucy Paul. He was the fifth child. He studied at St Joseph School in Madras.

Paul married his beloved wife, Mary Paul on January 24, 1977 in Kothamangalam, Kerala. In 1978, Paul and Mary welcomed their daughter Simi, in 1979 their son Sijo, in 1981 their daughter Sini and in 1985 their Son Antony Paul. He immigrated to Chicago, Illinois in 2001.

Paul was a beloved family man who was loved by his children and grandchildren, as well as by the large, extended Elengical and Vadukkumcherry families. He passed away on September 17, 2022. He is greatly mourned by his adoring family members and his community. He is remembered for his loving, jovial nature, and for his willingness to help his family.
