Dr. Raju Jacob was called to his eternal home on October 17, 2026. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He will be remembered for his gentle presence, his playful wit and his devotion to family.
Born on December 24, 1939 to the late Potha Kochukunju Kizhakkanethu and the late Mariamma Kochukunju in Kaviyoor, Kerala, India. He was the youngest of six siblings: Late K. P. Mariamma, Late K. K. Pothen, Late K. K. Oommen, Late Ammini Kocheapen, and Late K. K. Samuel.
After completing high school, Raju pursued his Bachelor’s in Botany at Mar Thoma College, Thiruvalla, Kerala. He went on to earn his Master’s degree from Gujarat University in Ahmedabad, India, and he completed his Ph.D. in 1968 at Sardar Patel University in Anand, Gujarat, India. He was a Lecturer at Catholicate College, Pathanamthitta, Kerala, India from 1968-1975. He also taught in Jamaica from 1975-1978.
On May 4, 1970, he married his beloved wife, Sally Mathew, Panavelil House, Ranny (former Lecturer at Mar Thoma College, Thiruvalla, 1969-1971). Together, they built a beautiful life and were blessed with two children (Sapna and Suraj) and four grandchildren.
In 1978, he immigrated to Dallas, Texas, with his wife and daughter. A few years later, their family was completed with the birth of their son. In the US, Raju worked as an engineer at Mostek (United Technologies) in Dallas from 1979-1988 and also at Motorola in Austin, Texas, from 1988-2000. After he retired in 2000, the family moved back to Dallas in 2008 to be closer to extended family.
Music was one of Raju’s greatest joys. He lovingly encouraged Sally to sing and for many years the two of them shared that gift together – singing at gatherings and opening their home for musical evenings filled with song, friendship and laughter. Those evenings and the melodies they made together will be remembered fondly by all who were part of them.
Raju is survived by his devoted wife, Sally Jacob, and his cherished children and their spouses:
· Dr. Sapna Jacob Philip & Dr. Kiran Joy Philip

Grandchildren: Rohan Philip, Rithik Philip, Zayden Jacob & Zachary Jacob
We trust in God's promises and hold tightly to the hope that he now rests in God’s hands and we will see him again. Our father's life touched many people, but for us, he will always be our father, our example, and a true blessing from God.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to each of you for joining us today, for remembering our father, and for supporting our family during this time.
“I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; And whoever lives by believing in me will never die.”
John 11:25-26
