Robert (Bob) Michael Quast was called home to the Lord on November 29, 2014 at the age of 56. Bob was born in Dallas, Texas on February 18, 1958 to Robert and Bonnie Quast. He attended Dallas schools and his beloved father, Robert Quast was a teacher and then principal in DISD for more than 42 years. Bob told people frequently he was a “PK” which stood for “principal’s kid”. Bob had a memorable childhood with his oldest friend from the age of 3, Clay Llewellyn and many others. After graduating from Hillcrest High School, Bob choose Texas A&M University to study chemical engineering. Bob loved Aggieland and there he met his longtime friend, Bill Jester. Bill and Bob entertained many with their stories of shenanigans. Bob graduated from Texas A&M, class of 1980, with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. He truly became an Aggie for life. He was extremely proud of his education and alma mater. Although he left A&M; A&M never left his heart. Rarely would you see him without maroon clothing or his Aggie baseball cap. Bob was known to influence many football games (at least in his mind) by the old A&M shirt and cap he wore for game time. In 1984, he met Cheryl Ann Swanzy and their lives were joined together on June 22, 1985 in Austin, Texas. Together they had three children; Stephanie, Allison, and Michael. Bob loved his wife and children with all his heart and enjoyed raising them in the communities of Germantown, Tennessee and then Coppell, Texas. Bob loved attending all the kids’ activities - soccer, baseball, softball, football games, and dance recitals. Bob and his family faithfully attended Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church in Coppell and his church family was important part of his life.
Above all, Bob was known for the importance he placed on family and friends. He was the man that everyone loved and felt connected to. He was a true man of God that believed in the Lord with all his heart and soul. His role as a father was to teach his children to love the Lord with all their heart, to trust and follow God’s Word. His children best describe him as a man with simple desires, only wanting to spend time and show his love for his family and friends, cook, play some golf, fish and hunt and watch his Aggies play. Bob is survived by his wife of 29 years, Cheryl Quast; his three children: daughter Stephanie Fleisher and husband, Scott and granddaughter, Anna Claire; daughter, Allison Quast; and son, Michael Quast; his mother, Bonnie Quast; his sister, Carole Hlozek, brother-in-law, John and nieces Amy and Michelle Hlozek.
Visitation will be Tuesday December 2, 2014 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Restland-Coppell Funeral Home and the funeral will be December 3, 2014 at 1:00pm at SoulThirst Church (formerly Christ Our Savior) in Coppell with burial at Rolling Oaks Memorial Cemetery in Coppell.
