Roy Joel Waymire Sr.
November 1, 1946 – February 17, 2019
Roy Joel Waymire, Sr aged 72 won his battle with cancer at approximately 1AM on February 17, 2019 in Flower Mound, TX. He entered the hospital for the last time on February 15, 2019 & waited patiently as usual for far flung members of the family to arrive to say goodbye.
Roy & his wife Judy Kay Christian-Waymire were married 11 Jul 1980 and brought together a blended family including 4 sons & 2 daughters. Some wondered if they had enjoyed watching “The Brady Bunch” a little too much…
In September 2018, Brynn Thomas moved in with her grandparents Roy & Judy and brought the grand-dog “Gracie Lou Freebush Thomas”. Gracie and Roy immediately bonded and would share snacks, the chair, pillows, blankets, etc while watching every old western movie that had ever been made.
As was customary with Roy, he always asked about everyone else first no matter how he was feeling. Two of his granddaughters were with him in the room when he asked, “How is she?”. Blair Warren, the oldest grandchild, let him know that his wife Judy was visiting with family in the waiting room. That’s when he corrected her & informed the girls he was asking about the grand-dog Gracie…
The family wishes to extend condolences to cowboy boot & flag themed shirt makers since obviously their business will now suffer from lack of sales. Anyone that had ever met Roy knew how much he liked these things.
Roy & Judy have been dedicated members of Grace Point Church in Coppell TX for some time now. Both have servant’s hearts and Roy’s passion was the Safety Team for the church. A story commonly told about Roy was that during a training each member of the Safety Team was required to be sprayed in the face with pepper spray. All members with the sole exception being Roy were completely incapacitated and turned into “blubbering idiots”. Roy just wiped it off and acted like nothing had happened. Some joked that due to the vast amounts of Mexican & spicy food he had enjoyed over the years had helped and others joked that if he had some chips he probably would have used the spray as a dip.
Roy leaves behind a large blended family of sons, daughters, in-laws, out-laws, grandchildren & great-grandchildren.
Before Roy left us, he made sure to speak to everyone that had arrived to visit letting them know he loved them, his last words were to his daughter Angie letting her know how very much he loved her. He left us after ensuring that all family members would be fine and this writer believes that he actually enjoyed finally getting the last word…
There will be a Celebration of Life at Grace Point Church in Coppell from 1-2 PM on Thursday February 21, 2019 and a grave side service at 1PM Sunday February 24, 2019 at Loughridge Cemetery in Colt, AR.
