

Sherri Kay Geneser Mills, 67, of Highland Village, Texas died August 16, 2026, in Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, surrounded by her family. Online condolences for the family may be sent to Rolling Oaks Funeral Home Coppell, Texas.
Sherri Geneser Mills was born August 4, 1959, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Joe and Doreen (Coulson) Geneser. She graduated from High School in Newton, Iowa in the class of 1977. She enrolled at the University of Northern Iowa and graduated with a B.A. in elementary education. She became an elementary education teacher and taught for many years. She was a wonderful teacher who truly loved her students and was greatly loved by them in return.
Sherri was married for 45 years to the love of her life (and his too) Guy Mills, on August 1, 1981. Sherri was a strong woman who loved life and had many talents and interests. Tennis was one of her life passions and she was an exceptional tennis player. She was a talented artist with incredible skills in making her homes places of warmth and beauty. Her family was her world which includes her husband, daughters and grandchildren, Jamie Peasley (Nick) and children Jett, Jessimae and Jax, Kelly Doss and child Johnny, (she will always be remembered by her grandchildren as their “Grammy”), sister Cindy Morris (Jerry) and children Graham and Mackenzie, brother-in-law Greg Smith and children PJ and Evan, brother JD Geneser (Tina) and children Katie and Ellie, and a host of other family and dear friends.
When it was finally time to retire, she found her Happy Place in South Pardre Island, Texas where Sherri and Guy spent 5 wonderful months each year at the KOA campground in her favorite RV camper trailer. These months were full of spending time on the beach, at the wonderful restaurants, and as much time as possible with her many close friends at her island getaway.
Sherri was preceded in death by her parents Doreen and Joe Geneser, sister Karen Smith, and niece Courtney Smith.
A private family memorial service will be held for Sherri in South Pardre Island, Texas at a later date.
