Sosamma Oommen (Thankamma) was born on April 25, 1940 in Kottayam, Kerala, India. She was called to be with the Almighty Lord on May 18, 2023 from her home in Plano, Texas, surrounded by her children.
As a soft-spoken nurturer, it was no surprise she chose nursing as her life’s work. She immigrated to America as a nurse in 1972 to Corpus Christi, TX. In 1973, she married Oommen Chandy. Together they created a family that would become her world. Her kindness, generosity, patience, quiet strength, and devotion to God was evident to all who were blessed to know her.
She modeled a life of hard work and serving others to her twin daughters and son, showering them with all the love and adoration a mother could give. Her amazing cooking and sweet smile will truly be missed.
Now she is survived by her daughter Bindhu Oommen; daughter Beena Pappen, son-in-law Manoj and grandson Joshua; son Bobby Oommen and wife Joy; and sister Kunjamma.
