Albert Joseph Reiter, Jr., of Coppell, Texas, passed away peacefully on 22 May 2025. Shortly thereafter, Valarie Ann (Davis) Reiter, of Coppell, Texas, passed away peacefully on 14 July 2025. Al, 80, and Val, 74, had been married for 45 years, and leave behind a legacy of love, laughter, faith, and family devotion.
Born in South Bend, Indiana, on 14 February 1945, Al graduated from Lima Central Catholic High School in 1963 and the University of Dayton in 1967 with a degree in Physics. While Al worked as a government contractor for several years after college, he spent the bulk of his career working in digital/electronic security, including being part of installing the first ATM in Dayton: aka the “Green Machine.” Albert was a devoted Catholic and member of the Knights of Columbus, loved good food and beer (served in an ice-cold mug!), loved to collect guns (especially historical guns from WWII), and cherished time with his family and friends (the Bagel Brothers!).
Born in Huntington, WV, on 23 September 1950, Val graduated from Patterson Co-Op High School in 1968 and earned her AA from Sinclair Community College in 1970. Her first job was at 3rd National Bank. After years of enjoying the role of a stay-at-home mom and sales representative for a multinational, multi-level cosmetics company, Val found a fulfilling 22-year career as a secretary at Coppell Middle School. Val enjoyed baking and cross-stitching in her free time. She cherished annual road trips to visit family, especially Christmas in Ohio. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with friends and family, delighting in a good porter or stout.
Al was preceded in death by his brother, Bernard, and his parents, Lucille and Albert Reiter, Sr. Val was preceded in death by her parents, Nellie and Coleman Davis. Both are survived by their children Bryan (Janet), Jennifer (Jason), their two granddaughters, Brianna and Mackenzie, Al’s sister, Sherry (Jim), Val’s brothers Aaron (Jenny) and Andy (Marilyn), and multiple nieces and nephews.
Val and Al were faithful members of St. Ann Catholic Church, where their presence was a constant source of fellowship and friendship. They will be remembered for their faith, their love of family, and their pride in their children and granddaughters. Al and Val were interred at Rolling Oaks Memorial Center in Coppell, TX on 10 October 2025. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held in the spring at a yet to be determined date and time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Lymphoma Foundation of America or the National Aphasia Association.
