Vinod Varughese

Vinod Varughese passed away on December 16, 2023, at the age of 50 in Irving, TX. He was born on January 17, 1973 in Eraviperoor, Kerala, India to Mariamma Varughese and the late Joy Varughese. He is survived by his significant other of 15 years, Alexis McElroy, his sister Bindu Alex and brother Vimal Varughese.

Vinod moved to America in the fall of 1975 and grew up in Irving, TX. He graduated from Nimitz High School and went on to study at the University of Texas at Arlington. He was very active in many sports including soccer, basketball, and tennis. He was an avid foodie which led to a career within the restaurant industry.

Over the last decade, Vinod was very passionate about hiking with his dogs, playing pool with his friends, and being a mentor to many of his friends outside of his own family. He was a passionate sports fan, who never missed an opportunity to watch a game and found great joy in collecting hats from his favorite teams.

Above everything else, he was a family man who adored his nieces and nephews (Roman, Jackson, Zoey, Norah, Viviana, and Sachin). He looked forward to their visits, spoiling them every chance he had. He greatly enjoyed family gatherings, whether it be attending sporting events or exploring new restaurants.

In January of 2022, he faced a great loss when his father passed away. He knew what this would mean for his mother, and did everything he could to care for her. He made her a priority at all times as he was her companion at doctor visits, grocery trips and going to church.

He was dependable, compassionate, and selfless in all aspects of his life. His spirit will always be with us and his memory will live on.
