Bill was born in Oklahoma to Louise and Robert. He is survived by his brother Robert; his sisters Ann and Patricia; his son Christopher (from Bill's first marriage to Lilianne) and daughter-in-law Ana; wife Susie; his step son Josh Vinyard, five nephews and one niece; and fourteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren he shared with Susie.
Bill grew up in Dallas, and graduated from North Dallas High School. He joined the United States Navy and served honorably and proudly during the Vietnam War era aboard USS Intrepid and USS Enterprise, primarily as a cryptologic technician.
After his release from the Navy, he attended and graduated from Sam Houston State University with a degree in photography, and has remained an avid SHSU and Bearkat supporter. Shortly after graduation, he began his 40-year career as a manufacturers' representive in the consumer electronics industry, notably at Dobbs-Stanford in Dallas. Bill was a very devoted father, and he served as den and troop leader when Chris was a Cub Scout and a Boy Scout and was very, very proud when Chris earned his Eagle award. After his retirement, he enjoyed a happy and peaceful life, staying busy in his beloved garden growing flowers and vegetables and herbs, doing most of the everyday cooking because he loved to do that, feeding every kind of creature that happened into the back yard, attending many Bearkat games each season, never missing Dallas Cowboys games, and visiting with his cherished family and his many dear friends. Bill loved volunteering each year during the Texas State Fair at the Vietnam Wall, and formed deep friendships with his fellow veterans there.
More than any accomplishments, Bill Mullins will always be remembered because of his innate honorable nature and everyday kindness to everyone, irrespective of the person or situation. His incredible, deadpan quick wit and impeccable timing made everyone feel at ease and inevitably brought smiles. He was unfailingly determined to do the right thing but did not criticize or find fault with anyone. He was truly an inspiration and an example to everyone who knew him and made the world a better place for us all.
