Sgt. Charles Leslie Simmons IV, of Copperas Cove, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2011 in a Temple hospital.
Charles was born September 20, 1976 in Shreveport, LA to Charles Leslie Simmons III and Mary Eunice (Galey) Simmons. He was an active duty soldier in the United States Army at the time of his death.
Charles enjoyed the outdoors, most especially fishing, hiking and hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a niece.
He is survived by his wife Sandra Simmons of Copperas Cove; two children, Charles Leslie Simmons V and Merissa Naomi Simmons both of Crawford; three brothers, David Spinks and Steven Spinks both of Shreveport, LA and Bobby Joe Simmons of Valley Mills; a sister, Leslie Simmons Thomas of Ft. Worth and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. The Simmons family will receive guests for a time of visitation from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove with rosary being recited at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Valley Mills, 302 Avenue C, Valley Mills, Texas 76689. Interment service will be 3 p.m. Thursday, July 21, 2011 at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery with full military honors.
