I am very sorry for your loss Mrs. Turner !

Mr.Turner was my Principle when I went to school and I graduated in 1971. Then I enjoyed waiting on him as a customer and a friend at Baggett Drug and Medical Arts Pharmacy.  He will be missed by so many that loved and admired him. I am sending all my prayers and sympathy to his family.

My mother, Joann Duren loved working with Mr. Turner over the years. I remember as a child her always talking kindly of him. I know he will have a crown in Heaven.

Celebrating a life well lived. We will cherish the memories forever. Mr. Turner mattered to so many and made such a difference to everyone he met. My mom sends her deepest condolences and said with his passing, the world is, indeed a sad sad one right now.

I grew up with Wayne in Bowie Texas. We were next door neighbors during high school. My whole family thought a lot of Wayne. His classmates did also. He was student body president our senior year. I have so many good memories of Wayne. I will always be  proud that he was my friend.

I was saddened to hear of Mr. Turner's passing. He was a wonderful man, always so kind and caring even when providing direction and discipline. I remember vividly being a little girl at Mae Stevens and seeing Mr. Turner each morning standing in the doorway of the school with his arms crossed greeting each of us students by name. What a wonderful and Godly man who will be missed by many. I am praying for peace and comfort for Mrs. Turner, Kelly, Connie and family.

After reading comments from his students, one must say  "Behold, a man in whom there is no guile".  Thanks, Lord and Nancy for letting us share in his good life.  Don & Norma McGinty

Dear Nancy, Kelley and Connie, we will always be grateful to you for "adopting" our daughter,  Becky, into your family when we moved to  Copperas Cove from Bowie, Tx.  Wayne was a Bowie Jackrabbit at one time and he sensed that Becky needed extra love having to leave Bowie as a Sophomore in high school.  From that point on, our families became lasting friends.  Wayne was such a unique person and we know he will be missed by many,including our family.  We send our love and prayers to all of you,

I do not have words to describe how much respect and appreciation of Mr.Turner and Mrs. Turner my family and I have. I am so sorry to hear of his passing . 
 Mr. Turner was the best example of how a person should live his life . He was for three generations of the Ross family and thousands of CCISD students and their families.

My misbehaving children gave me many wonderful encounters with Mr. Turner.  He was a rare and loving man. His impact on the lives of students and parents is long lasting and of the best kind. Prayers of comfort for all his loved ones.

Mrs. Turner, I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Turner's passing. Your family has meant so much to us through the years. Mr. Turner was a good, good man.

Prayers for the family nòw that Mr. Turner has graduated to heaven. He was a wonderful role model for all of us. His sense of humor helped us all enjoy life. He was a blessing and wè are all riche fòr knowing him.

Mr. Turner and all the faculty at CCHS made such a difference in so many of their student's futures. We were all beyond fortunate to be led by so many who truly cared!

He's without a doubt one of those rare polite, kind and gentle persons that come along once in a life time. I'll miss our weekly coffee, may he RIP. Many thoughts and prayers to Nancy and family

Our thoughts and prayers to the entire Turner Family. Mr. Turner touched many lives. I was always so impressed by his memory. I would not see Mr. Turner, sometimes for years, but he always remembered my name. I would venture to say, many former students would say the same.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

So sorry for Mr. Turners passing. He was my high school principal (I graduated in 1966 from Copperas Cove High School), my brother's(Michael Yates) and even my younger sisters(Jessica Yates Perez) principal. He helped guide so many students through life. He was stern and would raise that eyebrow at you lol but you knew he cared. He was so emotional that day he gathered us students together in the hallway to tell us President Kennedy had been shot in Dallas with tears streaming down his face as he told us he died. I will never forget that day. Thank you Mr. Turner for all you gave to your students, schools, community. We have lost a great man. My condolences to his wife and family.

Mr. Turner was a blessing to me in high school and  made me feel special.  He also was the first principal I had when I began teaching.   He gave me great advice.  I send prayers to Nancy, Kelly, Connie, and the rest of the family.

Words cannot express my sorrow over your loss. "Charley Wayne", as we students at CCHS called him (behind his back of course) was a rock, he would listen to you and offer sage advice.  I remember that my parents were as proud as he was when he got his Masters, not sure many people at CCHS realized he was woking on it while being the principal, reffing basketball leagues at Ft Hood and Killeen Base (he officiated several games of mine).  I think members of the 64 football team gave him his greatest gift in school - we nailed him with a snowball and some of it went into the hall at Ave E.  He lined us up, smiling his grin, and told us that we each got a lick because of the mess in the hall and not that we hit him with it.  Of course we agreed, laughing all the time.

Rest assured that Mr. Turner was respected and loved.

I'll never forget my one and only trip to the principal's office for talking in class! The memory has always made me smile, because Mr. Turner was such a kind man. My condolences to Nancy, and Connie and the Family.

Mr Turner was such a wonderful guide for so many who passed through the CC schools. I still hear some of his guiding words today in my head. He has always taken time to say hi through the years and ask after my family.  I will miss seeing him around town. I am praying God is with you Nancy and your family at this time. If I wasn't in California at this time I would be there to help celebrate his life.

I will always remember what a fair man Mr Turner was while he was Principal at CCHS. He had a great sense of humor and loved joking around with the students during lunch or between classes. .... He shall be missed.

We just lost an awesome man.  Prayers for the family.

I'm so sorry for the family's loss.  I worked in the office after school and remembered he was often laughing and smoking his cigars.  I guess I haven't seen him since Mrs. Kay Cox's funeral.  He came to my father's funeral back in 1986 when my dad passed away.  I was so stunned since the last of my siblings graduated in 1974.  My mother told us to tell him 'thank you' for coming.  I caught up with him on the parking lot of Holy Family Catholic Church.  When I thanked him, he told us that my dad had raised 4 fine kids and he wanted to pay his respects.  Just typing this makes me cry.  God has got himself a new buddy to laugh with.    I wish I could go to honor him, but I have to go back to work on Monday.

Wayne was such a decent and likable man.  He was firm, but fair.  He was my son's first principal in Copperas Cove and is partly the good man he is today because of Mr. Turner.

I have always had a place in my heart for Mr. Turner. He was firm yet fair and provided a positive role model when I needed one the most.

Dearest Nancy, Girls and families,
I was so saddened to hear of Wayne's passing.  He was truly a very special person and Heaven has definitely got an angel to lead the pack!  His humor and his ability to enjoy life was evident just being around him.  It was always a pleasure to run into him and Nancy in Ruidoso at the races or in Tahoka at the bank because he always made you feel like he was glad to see you.  I am sure the school system benefitted from his charming character.  Love you all...wish so bad to be there Monday.

Mr. Turner touched many, many lives over the years including mine. He was a wonderful person to this very young boy back in the early sixties and was my first and best "grown up" friend. He taught me how to ride my horse at the early age of three or four and never failed to instruct me in the "cowboy way." He never fixed me a Shirley Temple, but always a "Cowboy Drink." He was also a terrific mentor to my father, Bob Caster Sr., who began his teaching and administration career of many decades at Copperas Cove. May God be with Nancy Turner and the family and may the memory of Wayne Turner be eternal.

My heart is so heavy for you Mrs. Turner and family.  May he rest in peace.  May God wrap his loving arms around you all for peace and comfort.  Hugs

The Turners are a part of so many memories from my childhood.  Mr. Turner taught my parents and was my principal as well as my brother's.  My heart aches for Mrs. Turner and the whole family.  The loss of this beautiful person is shared by so many, but his incredible legacy lives on in all of our memories.  All my love and sympathy.

So sad to hear of this. He was my Favorite Principal. He would gently tug at my ponytail when I would bring the lunch money and attendance to the office. He knew of all the kids at Fairview Elem. the good and the stinkers, My prayers to the Family, Mrs. Turner, Kelly, Connie and theirs.

Mr. Turner will always have a special place in my heart.  He was an honest and upright man and a man of his word.  He will be greatly missed.  Our prayers go out to Mrs. Turner and his family.
