Dennis William Leon Sr.

Services for Dennis W. Leon, Sr. will be 10:30am Wednesday December 17, 2014 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Copperas Cove. Burial will follow at 12:00pm at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery with full military honors. He was born May 28, 1935 I Little Falls NY and passed away December 12, 2014 at age 79. He served in the United States Army with a tour in Vietnam and retired as a 1S, at Fort Hood, Texas in 1978. After his military career he went to work for the Texas prison system. He worked 10 years at the Hill Top facility in Gatesville, TX as the Dining Facility Supervisor and retired after 17 years.

During his military service in Germany he married Gerda Marie Fleischmann and they have been married 54 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Edna Leon, 6 brothers, 1 sister, and 2 grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Gerda, daughters Maria and son-in-law Mike Thomas, and Barbara Leon, sons, Dennis Leon, Jr. and daughter-in-law Denise, Mike Leon, 2 brothers, 2 sisters, and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dennis will be remembered for his support and generosity for his family and his love for his wife Gerda who he supported every day at the nursing home where she resides.

The family will receive visitors from 6-8pm with a rosary at 7pm Tuesday December 16, 2014 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove.
