George Edward Barker

Graveside services for George Edward Barker 87 of Copperas Cove will be on Tuesday March 10, 2015 at 11 AM at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. He passed away on March 2, 2015 in Copperas Cove.

He was born on January 3, 1928 in Rusk, Texas to John and Lily Barker one of two children born to this marriage. He was educated as a teacher and served in many different jobs in schools. He was a teacher, coach, and principal while working in the Copperas Cove School District where he retired.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Copperas Cove, the Masonic Lodge, and a member of the school board for 6 years. He also served in the US Navy and the Air Force from 191946 to 1953. He was a coin collector, golfer, and professional gardener as well as an avid coffee drinker at McDonald's.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Linda Lou Barker and a son Joel Barker.

He is survived by his daughter Marilinda Barker and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Monday, March 9,2015 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove.
