

George Ann Smith, age 74, received her wings on June 26, 2026. Born February 7, 1952, in Cotton Plant, Arkansas, George Ann was the daughter of Willie B Hampton Sr. and Lilly Charlene Simons. She was a resident of Copperas Cove, Texas.
George Ann found Christ early in life and served Him faithfully throughout her years. In 1969, she married Mckenzie Smith Jr., and from this union two children were born. In 1980, she moved to Texas and began a devoted career with AAFES, where she served for 30 years before retiring in 2014. During her career, George Ann spent 13 months supporting efforts in Iraq and Desert Storm, and later served three years in Kuwait—an enduring reflection of her steadfast commitment and sense of duty.
George Ann was preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings, Martha H. Neal, Robert Simmons, Willie B Hampton Jr., and Joseph Hampton.
George Ann leaves to cherish her memory her children, Martha Cross and her husband Randy, Michael Smith, and Kyree Simons; her siblings, Willie B Haney, Ruthie Streeter, Shirley White, Nancy Swing, Beverly Simons and her wife Brenda, Marie Robertson, Dorothy Hampton-Harris, Mark Hampton, Charlie B Hampton, Joyce Hampton, Jerry Hampton, Ruby Hampton, and Nancy Hampton; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews, along with many dear friends she called her family.
