Heginio Morquecho of Copperas Cove, TX died on Wednesday Feb. 21, 2018. He was born in Karnes City, Texas to the late Crespin Morquecho and Juanita Morales Morquecho of Karnes City, Texas. He is survived by his wife Anneliese Morquecho, daughter Carmen and husband David Green of Santa Fe, Texas, grandson Shawn and wife Christi Rehm, granddaughters; Amanda and husband Timmy McCoy, Tabitha and husband Travis English, six great grandchildren; Hayden and Connor Rehm, Alyssa McCoy, Riley, Emma and Andre English all of Santa Fe, Texas. Also survived by sisters; Rufugia Escobal of Leban, Texas, Marylou and husband Fernando Nava of Ft. Worth, Texas. Brothers; Paul Morquecho of California, Crespin Jr. and wife Juanita Morquecho of Greenville, Texas. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by two brothers; Louis and Roberto Morquecho, and sister Janie Morquecho Rodriquez. MSG Morquecho joined the Army in 1957 and served honorably for 27 years. A Vietnam Veteran who served 2 tours in Vietnam with the 1st Calvary Division. (airmobile) His military decorations included Bronze Star Medal with 1st Oak Leaf Cluster, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct with 3 silver loops, Republic of Vietnam campaign medal, and numerous other awards. He retired from the U.S. Army in March 1984 in Nuernberg, Germany and was hired in March 1984 by Central Texas College as an instructor of military subjects and as a Military Librarian until September 1991 when he returned to the United States and resided in Copperas Cove, Texas. On May 1992 he was again hired by Central Texas College as a Military Librarian in Fort Hood, Texas and remained employed until his retirement from Central Texas College on September 2007. He attended Central Texas College where he earned an Associate's Degree. A memorial mass is scheduled for March 2, at 8 am at Holy Family Catholic Church in Copperas Cove, Texas. Inurnment will follow at The Central Texas State Veteran's Cemetery, where his family and friends will lay him to rest with full military honors. The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff of Kindred Hospice and a special thank you to nurse Polly, Steven, and Lydia of Kindred Hospice for their compassionate care and love shown to "Chico". Thank you also to The Holy Family Catholic Church that visited us every Sunday and prayed with us. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice or to your local animal shelter. Arrangements are under the care of Crawford-Bowers, Copperas Cove.
