Herbert "Herb" Franklin Rose, 75, of Copperas Cove, Texas passed away August 21, 2012 after prolonged illness. His wife, Marliese, was by his side when he drifted off to be with the Lord. He was born to Robbie and Cecil Rose of Battle Creek, Michigan on March 31, 1937.
Herb served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1976. After retiring from the U.S. Army, he began a second career in Civil Service, retiring again in 2003. He spent more than 40 years in Texas. Herb was an active member of Fairview Community Church, Baptist Benevolence Ministries, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Since retirement, he has enjoyed traveling, tinkering in his workshop, and spending time with family and friends.
Herb was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Robbie Rose, and three brothers, Gary, Donald and Cecil Jr Rose.
Herb is survived by his beloved wife, Marliese Rose; three daughters and their spouses, Irene and Dennis Connelly, Diana and Steven Simonson, Christa Rose and Tony Taylor; grandchildren, Sonya King and husband Greg King, Charlie Cox and wife Kyra Cox, Nicole Hager; great grandchild Paislie Cox; brother Robert Rose and wife Bonnie; sisters-in-law, Christa Estes, Angelina Daniel, Marion Kohfeldt. Herb also leaves behind several loving aunts and cousins and a host of friends who were an important part of his life.
A memorial service will be conducted by Pastor Paul Wrightman at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Fairview Community Church, 1202 Veterans Avenue, Copperas Cove, Texas 76522. Inurnment will take place at 10:00 am on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 State Highway 195, Killeen, Texas 76542.
