Master Sergeant Hersel Gene Higgins Jr. (RET), of Kempner, Texas entered into eternal peace on March 28, 2016 he was 69 years old. Gene was born in Chesney South Carolina on November 23, 1946, a son of Hersel Gene Higgins Sr. & Elsie (Scruggs) Higgins.
He is survived by partner Pamela Jean Kennedy of Kempner, Texas, daughter; Lacey Amanda Higgins and granddaughter Krysta R Zarrilli of Kempner, Texas. Gene served in the Army for 22 years, he received 3 Purple Hearts, 2 Bronze Stars and 1 Silver Star for his tours in Vietnam. He served 7 years as a Police Officer in Duncan, Oklahoma as well as a Correctional Officer for TDCJ for 20 years.
Gene spent his life protecting and serving his State and Country with the highest honor he could achieve.
He will be honored by the Mason's during the visitation which will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home of Copperas Cove from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Graveside service will be Monday, April 4, 2016 at 3:00pm with full Military Honors.
