Humberto “Bob” Garcia, born August 20, 1940, passed away on August 12, 2026, at the age of 85. A beloved and devoted husband, father, and friend, he will be remembered with deep respect for the steady, hard-working life he lived and the care he showed through years of service to others.
Proudly serving his country, Bob was a 22-year veteran of the United States Army from 1958 to 1980, attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class. Throughout his dedicated service he was recognized for his exceptional work in that branch of the military. Bob earned an Army Commendation Medal in October 1965 for his outstanding, valuable, and faithful service while in the Dominican Republic. He then earned the Bronze Star Medal and an Army Commendation Medal for his heroism, achievement, and meritorious service in a combat zone in June 1969 while serving in the Republic of Vietnam.
On March 8, 1963, Bob married Sandra Garcia. Together they raised four children; Robert, Richard, Regina, and Randal, and shared 49 years of love until 2012, when Sandra passed away. On May 11, 2022, Bob married Esperanza Garcia, finding love and companionship again in his later years.
Bob’s life was also rich with simple joys and the pleasures of time well spent. In his younger years, he loved fast cars and drag racing. As a father, he devoted himself to making memories with his children through traveling, camping, and boating, embracing the outdoors and the closeness it brought. He also enjoyed gardening and tending to his farm animals, and he found lighthearted enjoyment in visits to the casinos and in playing bingo.
Bob is survived by his children; Humberto Junior Rechl and Klaus Link both of Germany, Robert Gean Garcia (Casilda) of Pflugerville, Texas, Richard Gean Garcia (Neddy) of Hutto, Texas, Regina Renee Funke (John) of Colinsville, Illinois, Randal Garry Garcia (Richeal) of Copperas Cove, Texas; grandchildren Michael Wayne Garcia, Jessica Louise Hardison, Shelby and Chase Loning, Haley Garcia, Jayden Garcia, Jeremy Garcia, Mike Link, Maximilian Link, and Lisa Marie Link; and his caring wife, Esperanza Garcia.
