

Jewel was born September 24, 1922 in Coryell County to Louis and Selma Dewald. She was one of nine children in her family.
She was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church in Copperas Cove for many years where she was active in the United Methodist Women’s, her Sunday school class and the quilting group. She also assisted in cooking for the Wednesday night activities at the church.
Jewel enjoyed watching and supporting the Copperas Cove Lady Bulldawgs Basketball team and the Copperas Cove Bulldawgs Football team, she was a true Copperas Cove High School alumni graduating with the class of 1940. While in high school she played basketball and tennis.
Jewel was preceded in death by her husband Gilbert E. Schulze and five brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by a son, Stacey Schulze and his wife Cathy; two daughters, Phyllis Wheeler and her husband Jim and Anita Holmes; five grandchildren, James Wheeler, Jr. and wife Tracey, Teresa Davidson and her husband David; Jay Holmes and his wife Tiffany, Wendy Van Raalte, Justin Schulze and his wife Melissa and six great grandchildren.
The Schulze family will receive guests for a time of visitation from 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 30, 2012 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at Grace United Methodist Church in Copperas Cove with Rev. Mike Kerzee officiating. Interment services will follow in the Copperas Cove City Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be James Wheeler, Jr., Teresa Davidson, Jay Holmes, Wendy Van Raalte, Justin and Melissa Schulze.
