Jimmy Lee Zednick, affectionately known as "Z-Man," passed away in Copperas Cove Texas. Born on January 12, 1963, Jimmy was a true son of West Texas—fierce in loyalty, rich in stories, and steadfast in service.
A proud graduate of Odessa High School, Class of 1981, Jimmy carried his sense of duty and honor straight into the United States Army, enlisting in August of 1983. Over the course of 24 years and 28 days, he served with distinction around the globe, including deployments in Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Somalia, Germany, and Korea. Jimmy retired as an E7 Sergeant First Class and Blackhawk helicopter repairman—a testament to his precision, grit, and unwavering commitment to his brothers- and sisters-in-arms.
Even after retirement, Jimmy continued to support the military community as a contractor at Fort Hood. His work was more than just a job; it was another way he gave back to the service that had shaped his life.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his beloved sister Kristie Hester and father George Zednick. He is survived by his mother, Marie Medlock; his children, Jessica (with ex-wife Lori) and Michael (with ex-wife Melissa Zednick); his brother Scott Zednick and wife Julie; his sister Michelle Gore and husband Chace; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, especially the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association 23-5, who will miss his laugh, loyalty, and the stories he never ran out of.
Z-Man’s legacy is one of courage, love for country, and devotion to family—a life lived with purpose and pride. Jimmy Lee Zednick had the Dallas Cowboys in his heart but had the Army in his blood.
