John was a kind-hearted, loving man with a devotion to God, family, work and life. He grew up in Galax, Virginia and joined the Army at the age of 17. He honorably served for nearly 25 years, with stations in Vietnam, Germany and the USA before retiring as a Master Sergeant. He continued his service to country by working as a Logistics Manager in the Federal Civil Service for another 23 years, finishing out his work life in 2010.
John enjoyed various hobbies, including fishing, gardening and video games. He adored animals, having had several pets throughout his life; in his latter years he loved and cared for the strays in the neighborhood. He did this until his last day.
John, a husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather was called home too early. He left behind a wife of 59 years, Gerda; daughter and son in-law Belinda and Boris Przechowski, son and daughter in-law Johnnie and Danielle Cox; son, Roger and daughter, Rosa. His grandchildren were Amanda, Paul, Jonny, Joshua, Rebecca, Isaiah and Isaac; and great grandchildren Krista, Matthew, Foxx and Cristiano. He was also survived by his brother, Carrol Wayne, sister, Ruthie and numerous nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his father, Wright Stuart Cox, mother, Luvenia Cox; brothers Virgil, James, and Carlos and sister, Viola.
John was loved very much and touched many lives. He will be missed.
