

Joseph later joined the United States Army and earned the rank of CW3. As a new soldier he met and married Bernice Shreves on March 8, 1952. The couple would become the proud parents of seven children.
While serving over 20 years in the United States Army CW3 Duggan received many medals and awards; to include the Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal w/1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal w/1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon w/Numeral 2, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon w/Numeral 2, Combat Infantryman Badge, Presidential Unit Citation (Navy), Korean Service Medal w/6 Bronze Service Stars, United Nations Service Medal, South Korean Presidential Unit Citation.
He is also preceded in death by his grandsons, Timothy Duggan and Mack Fortune.
CW3 Joseph Harold Duggan is survived by his wife Bernice Duggan and their seven children; Doreen Anderson, Linda Van Lengen, Thomas Duggan, Patricia Planas, Ronald Duggan, David Duggan and Joe Duggan; ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; his sisters; Susie and Marie and his brothers; Billy and John.
A graveside service will be held in the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery with full military honors on Monday, September 28, 2015 at 10:00 AM.
