September 28, 1941October 26, 2020

Joseph Edward Flynt, age 79, passed away Monday night October 26, 2020 at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple Texas. He was born September 28, 1941 in Savannah Georgia.

Joe was married to his bride, Brigitte M. Flynt for fifty-six years. They were married on December 30, 1964 in Germany, while Joe was stationed overseas. Joseph Flynt proudly served his country for 23 years in the military as part of the United States Army. After retiring from the army, Mr. Flynt earned his bachelor’s degree from University of Central Texas. This was a very proud moment in his life since he was never fond of school. He also shared his knowledge and love for the sport of golf by sharing his many sets of clubs with anyone who wanted to learn the game he loved so dearly. His favorite quote “Attitude is Everything” will be worn and remembered by many. He said that his biggest pleasure in life was his family. Watching his granddaughter grow was the best one of all.

He is survived by his wife, Brigitte M. Flynt, sisters Barbara Liazuk of Wisconsin and Marlene Webber from Collins, Georgia, Brother Charles E. Flynt of Springfield, Georgia, his daughter Lorene H. Roseberry and his granddaughter Savannah Blevins along with many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.

Growing up, I remember The Manhattan coming on the radio and my dad simply holding his hand out for my mom and watching them dance.... you are my shining star or Kiss and say goodbye ... are two of the favorites of my father. The Platters Smoke Gets In Your Eyes was another favorite they often danced to.
Watching my parents dance was something I loved to do... and dancing with my father was a joy of my own as well.

Joe had the special gift of always making you feel welcomed. He never met a stranger. I will always remember his smile, and the way he would give you a knowing little wink & nod of his head, inviting you to sit and visit for a while. Sending prayers for comfort and peace to Brigitte, Charlie, Wes, Savannah, and the rest of Joe’s family.

Joe, my sweet cousin and the brother I always wanted. We will miss your phone calls and our going out to eat with you and Bridgette on our monthly get togethers. You will be missed dearly but never forgotten and forever in our hearts. Love Cuz!

My father will forever be my hero. However, the memory that will sit with me forever is the day I brought Savannah home from the hospital and he held her. He was so gentle with her. That tiny little baby who should not have even had the strength in her head/neck to hold her head up pushed herself up and just stared at her Opa with eyes full of love and then crawled up to nuzzle into his neck.
From that moment on he called her his traveler and said that this girl was going far in life and traveling places the rest of us could only dream and he was going to make sure of it.
She will Opa - she will go far!
We love and miss you - but i hope you are making those holes in one with Sissy now!

I will always cherish the time we spent together, be it work, golfing or just having a cold beer. Together we saw the best of life and the worst of golf, and wouldn’t change a thing. Fairways and greens my friend.

Joe my friend you were definitely a special friend and you will be missed and I will never forget what you asked of me, but I never thought I would see that day, but consider it done. Rest In Peace my friend. Thanks for the laughs and memories.

When I asked Joe (Dad) for Lollys hand in married, the first thing he said was well what did Brigett say. I was smart and had asked her first, she was excited and said yes of course. Then he said well if it's OK with her then it's OK with me, but don't you go and hurt that girl.

I am going to miss the talks we had on the back porch, Joe and I enjoyed just sitting out there just visiting. Joe would look at me and say I'll buy you a beer. That was his way of saying get of your butt and get me a Mikes Hard Lemonade and while your at it you and can get you a beer. He always had a way with words.
