Juline Maxine Smith, 83, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at UTMB Hospital in Galveston, Texas. She was born July 24, 1942, in Brownwood, Texas, to Loyce and Catherine Thomas Logan. A longtime Texas resident, Juline lived in Kempner, Texas, and was known for a steady devotion to family, faith, and community.
Visitation will be held at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home, 211 W Avenue B, Copperas Cove, TX 76522-1656, on August 13, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with the family greeting friends and relatives. A Celebration of Life will be held at Lampasas Community Church on August 14, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, at 1601 Fourth St, Lampasas, TX 76550. Private burial will be August 15 at Smith Cemetery.
Juline grew up in Copperas Cove and graduated from Copperas Cove High School in 1960. Even in her early years, she brought energy and dedication to all she did—serving as a majorette for all four years of high school, playing on the basketball team, and managing it as well.
After high school, Juline began her working life with Darrosett Insurance as a clerk. She later devoted 35 years to Lone Star Gas before retiring, and then continued her career with Total Restoration. In time, she joined Crawford Bowers Funeral Home, where she served for 10 years before retiring again. Throughout her life, Juline’s commitment to others extended well beyond her work. She was involved in Eastern Star, most recently holding the office of StarPoint; she was active in Beta Sigma Phi, where she earned her master’s degree and was working on her torch; and she served with Altrusa, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping the community. She was also a proud member of Lampasas Community Church.
Juline married Coleman H Smith in 1959 in Copperas Cove, Texas, and they shared 40 years of marriage. Her life was rich with the simple, lasting joys she valued most: Bunco, volunteer work, and time spent with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many friends.
Juline was preceded in death by her husband, Coleman Smith, and by her parents, Loyce and Catherine Logan.
Juline is survived by her daughter, Deborah Smith Chapman (whose husband Greg passed away in July of 2022); her son, Coleman D Smith and wife Laura; her grandchildren, Ashli Lock, Adriana Peddie, Alyssa Peddie Bowen and husband Collin, and Cody Smith and wife Rebecca; and 10 great-grandchildren: Aidan Freas and fiance Abigail Cain, Aubrie Barr, Ava Grace Lang, Lucas Espinoza and Freja Tapia, Lynnlee Brooke Barr, John W Barr IV, Jaxon Ponsetti, Malone Bowen, and Chesney Smith. She is also survived by her cousin, Tom Lewis.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association. Condolences may be left on Juline Smith’s online guest book at www.crawfordbowerscopperascove.com.
