

A celebration of Karen’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at the United Methodist Church of Braman, OK. Pastor C M Wilson of the United Methodist Church of Braman, OK will be officiating.
Karen Marie Ray, 68, of Braman, Oklahoma, passed away on March 27, 2013 in Temple, TX. after a brief bout with cancer.
Karen was born in Estherville, Iowa on Dec 22, 1944. She graduated from Estherville High School in 1962 and continued on to receive a Diploma of Cosmetology from Stewart School of Cosmetology in Sioux Falls, SD.
Karen was married to Larry L. Ray on August 14,1974.
Karen worked for a short time as a beautician for Francine Hasselbring of Braman. She then worked at the Oklahoma Restaurant as a cook for several years until she became employed with the Braman School System which she retired from in May of 2012. She then was employed by her daughter-in-law at Muffin Top Bakery where she continued her love of baking. Two things in Karen’s life that brought her great joy was spending her summers with the kids at the Braman Swimming Pool and making popcorn balls for kids at Halloween. She also enjoyed cooking & baking, crafts, Elvis Presley, country music, fishing and deeply enjoyed all the kids she served for so many years during her employment with the school and the swimming pool.
Karen is survived by her husband, Larry L. Ray, of Lampasas, TX. Children Jolena Ray of Braman, Todd Ray and wife Debbie of South Haven, KS, Karmen Holmes and husband Ronnie of Lampasas, TX. Stepchildren Donnie Ray of Blackwell, Randy Ray and wife Danette of Enid, and Sandra Ray of Ponca City. She is also survived by a sister, Bonnie Phillips and husband Delmar of Spirit Lake, IA. Grandchildren Trent, Halie, Joseph, Blake, Baylee, Hunter, Parker, Kendall, Shelby, Amanda, Landon, and Trevon. She also has two great grandchildren.
Karen is preceded in death by her parents, Harold Joseph and Betty June Schlotfeldt, and sister, Diana June VanEman.
