

L. O. “Bud” Owsley went to be with the Lord Tuesday, June 6, 2017. Visitation will be held at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home Friday, June 9 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at First Baptist Church of Copperas Cove on Saturday, June 10 at 11:00 AM. Burial with full military honors will be held at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery on Tuesday, June 13 at 9:00 AM.
Bud was born on June 13, 1931 in Pepperell, Alabama to Mr. William Thomas Owsley and Lizzie Iola Kenney. Bud loved His Lord, Jesus Christ. He was ordained as a deacon in 1962 and actively served His Lord in several churches in Copperas Cove. Bud was a member of the Exchange Club for many years, serving in local, state and national positions. Bud also served Copperas Cove as a member of the City Council and Economic Development Corp.
He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1951-1972, a veteran of both the Korean Conflict and the Viet Nam War. Upon his retirement from the Army, Bud became the Food Service Director of Central Texas College, in Killeen, TX until 1993.
Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Lula Vee “Lou” Barlow Owsley, sisters Eugenia Chambley, Dorothy Evans, and brothers Franklin Owsley and Winfield Owsley. He is survived by Dr. W.F.( Frank) Owsley and his wife Michele of Stephenville, TX; Rev. William N. Owsley and wife Barbara of Bedford, Va.; Mr. Charles S. Owsley and wife Kathy of San Antonio, TX.; and Cathy S. Permenter and husband Mike of Granbury , Tx.. Bud is also survived by sisters Carolyn Ann (Carl) Downing and Gloria Jean (John) Taylor of Alabama. Also surviving are grandchildren Keith Permenter, Sarah Grace Owsley, Clinton Permenter, Kyle Owsley, Will Owsley, Cynthia Owsley, and Naomi Owsley; and special friends Paula and Klaus Wallis.
