Maria Deland Sept. 12, 1936- April 16, 2019

Maria Deland, age 82, surrounded by her loving family peacefully passed away on April 16, 2019. Born September 12, 1936 to Frederick and Margaret Detzel in Nurnberg, Germany. Being one of 10 children, Maria experienced life to its fullest. She was known for her high energy and spirit, red hair, and most of all her kind heart. This eventually led to her meeting the love of her life, Frederick H. Deland, Jr., while on his military duty in Furth, Germany. Through their journey, they parented two incredible children Jenny and Scott Deland. Both Maria and Fred enjoyed entertaining and often impressed friends with their extraordinary dancing abilities. After an extensive military career, the family settled in Copperas Cove, Texas where Maria embarked on a resident manager career with Dewald Properties. Her unparalleled work ethic and spontaneity quickly fostered into a career she loved for over 37 years. Over the years her children married and she was blessed with seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Maria was an extraordinary mother, and a one-of-a-kind grandmother. She played an instrumental role in each of her grandchildren’s lives. Keeping the family on their toes, she was always fair, honest, and never missed a birthday or major event. She will be greatly missed by daughter Jenny Murray (CSM Gordon Murray), and son Scott Deland (Tamra Deland). Grandchildren Gregory Murray, Jonathan Murray, Matthew Murray, Joshua Deland, Brittany Deland, Cody Deland, and Emily Deland. Numerous close relatives, friends, Dewald employees, and community. Maria leaves behind a legacy of kindness, quick wit, and spunk. As we grieve for her loss, we must all open our hearts to celebrate her beautiful soul. Maria’s family would like to thank the entire Dewald Properties family for their love and support throughout the years. Celebration of life services details still to be determined.

Marie was always a very friendly friend and informational. Enjoyed talking with her a moment when we met her at the P X , and other places, particularly at Scott's & Tammie's drive coming and going. I send my deepest sympathy to Scott and All the Deland family during their loss and the days ahead as they deal with the aftermath of death. GOD be with you.

Maria, what we have once enjoyed we can never lose all our great time in Germany and Ft. Hood. All that we love becomes a part of us. You our friend lived life to the fullest. So a goodbye or a farewell is necessary before we can meet again. So Bud and I say farewell for now for we will see you again when our Heavenly father calls us home.
