He was born on November 18, 1979 in Fayetteville, North Carolina. His family relocated to Texas in 1983 where he was raised and remained for the remainder of his life. Mark attended both Ellison and Killeen High Schools. He graduated from Central Texas College in 2014, earning an Associate of Paramedicine.
In 2007 Mark met the love of his life and on December 28, 2009, Mark and Samantha Rangel were married at St. Paul’s Chong Hasang Catholic Church in Harker Heights, Texas. Mark and Samantha were blessed with five boys during their marriage starting their family in 2011 with the birth of their son Robert, followed by John in 2013, Michael in 2020, Andrew in 2023 and Joseph in 2025. The couple resided in the Central Texas area over the years and in 2015 became residents of Kempner, Texas, where the family currently lives. They are members of Holy Family Catholic Church in Copperas Cove, Texas. Mark served his parish as a Lector and was a member of the Men’s Group.
Marvin aspired to become a firefighter to learn how to maintain calm and make life-saving judgments at the most critical moments of an individual’s life. Marvin dedicated 10 remarkable years to the fire service. Marvin held certifications as an Advanced Firefighter, Advanced Inspector, Driver Pump Operator, Driver Operator Aerial, Instructor, Fire Officer, Hazmat Tech, and Basic Wildland Firefighter. Marvin was on the Technical rescue team for 7 years, Swift water team for 5 years, Wildland Team for 5 years, Texas Taskforce 1 Swift water for 4 years, Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System (TIFMAS) Wildland team 5 years. During his time in Emergency Service, Marvin was awarded the Medal of Valor, Unit Performance, Meritorious Conduct x2, Life Saving, Certificate of Merit, Distinguished Fitness, and Rookie of the Year.
Marvin excelled as an officer, enhanced his rank, and assisted the Killeen Fire Department and its personnel in adapting and evolving into a standard-setting organization.
Mark is survived by his wife, Samantha and their sons, Robert, John, Michael, Andrew, and Joseph. He is also survived by his parents; U.S. Army CW03 (Ret) Marvin Taylor, Jr. and Marilyn (Coddington) Coster, his siblings; Richard Taylor and spouse Lisa and Megan Grysko and spouse Chris.
The lives Mark touched are immeasurable. His legacy of family and his impact in the community will be remembered and continued. He will be missed forever.
