Mary was born on February 3, 1946 in Tacoma, Washington to Edward Wagner and Helen Agnes (Novitcki) Wagner. She grew up and graduated in Tacoma. She met her first husband, Edward Randall, while in Washington State. Mary traveled with Edward during his Army career and spent time overseas with Edward before settling in Copperas Cove, Texas. Mary and Edward had two daughters, Stacy and Tina. She spent the majority of her working career in housekeeping and once in Texas she spent her working days as a housekeeper at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center and retired from that position in 2017. She was with Edward until his passing in 1994.
Mary met her current husband, Elmer Steinert while they were both working at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center and they married in 1999. The two ended up retiring and residing in Copperas Cove after retirement. Mary decided to step out of her comfort zone and try to learn computers at Central Texas College, but did not pursue them in any professional nature.
She enjoyed vacationing with family, playing BINGO, competing in horseshoe tournaments, bowling, going to the hunting lease with Elmer, fishing and having tea parties with her great grandchildren. When asked what she wanted to eat it was usually spaghetti, biscuits and gravy, or ice cream! Mary’s favorite color has always been red, and the family asks that if you have a red shirt to wear it in memory of her.
Mary is survived by her husband Elmer Steinert, her sister Karen Kim and brother Larry Benninger, her two daughters Stacy Jordan (spouse Jeffery Jordan) and Tina Randall, step-daughter Edith Key (spouse James Key), six grandchildren; Jerry Jordan (spouse Aryana Jordan), Austin Jordan, David Weber (spouse Angel Weber), Anastasia Renteria, Gabrielle Renteria, George Renteria and she is survived by fifteen great grandchildren.
