

Michael McPherren, age 70, passed away on March 14, 2026. Michael was a faithful, hard-working, honest, kind-hearted, resilient, generous, and thoughtful man whose life reflected steady devotion to those he loved and the values he lived by. He resided in Gatesville, Texas.
Born on September 20, 1955, in Enid, Oklahoma, Michael was the son of Lewis and Elizabeth McPherren, both of whom preceded him in death. He was one of four children, and his early years helped shape the steadfast character that would define him throughout his life.
In 1974, Michael joined the U.S. Army. Throughout his service, he served as Military Police as well as a Signals Intelligence Analyst. He was awarded many medals and badges to include the Army Achievement Medal with 3 oak leaf clusters, NCO Professional Development Ribbon III, the Sharpshooter Badge Rifle, Army Superior Unit Award, along with others .
In 1993, he retired honorably at the rank of Sergeant First Class. Following his retirement from the Army, Michael earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and began his career as a Sheriff Deputy in Lampasas County, continuing a life of service with the same dedication and integrity he carried in uniform.
Above all, Michael loved and cherished his family. He was always the loudest fan at his grandchildren’s sport events, offering unwavering encouragement and pride. A follower of Christ, Michael’s faith was an enduring part of who he was and how he lived.
Michael also shared his time and knowledge with others by instructing concealed firearm licensing classes. He enjoyed fishing and shooting, finding satisfaction in simple moments and familiar pastimes.
Michael leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Amanda Cimmino and husband Dave Cimmino; son, James Wonders-McPherren and wife Susan; grandchildren, Kimberly and David; great-granddaughter, Paisleigh; siblings, Tim McPherren, Patrick McPherren, and Kathy Resciniti; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A Visitation will be held at 3pm with the Funeral Service immediately to follow at 4pm on Sunday March 29th at Christ the Rock Church, 2514 E US HWY 190, Lampasas, TX 76550.
