

Mrs. Pate died June 15, 2013.
She was born May 4, 1930, in Copperas Cove to Virgel and Myrtis (Townsend) Smith.
Mrs. Pate died after a battle with cancer.
She was the second of seven children. Mrs. Pate attended school in Copperas Cove.
For 26 years, Mrs. Pate was married to Enman Pate from Nolanville, and had five children: Eddie Pate (Niceville, Fla.), Mickey Wendowsky (Copperas Cove), Jerry and (wife) Lucy (Round Rock), Kirk and (wife) Linda (Waco), and Rhonda and (husband) Donnie Pettengill (Mesquite).
Mrs. Pate became a licensed beauty operator and operated her own beauty salon in Copperas Cove for over 30 years. She was a very active member and officer with the Copperas Cove Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary for many years. She attended the Avenue E Church of Christ for many years.
Mrs. Pate was preceded in death by brothers Jimmy Ray Smith and Billy Joe Smith.
Survivors include brothers Earl Smith (Belton), Duane and (wife) Barbara Smith (Belton); sisters Robbie Langford (Copperas Cove), Vicki and (husband) John Kiltega (Gatesville); nine wonderful grandchildren; 10 wonderful great-grandchildren; numerous wonderful nieces and nephews; great-nieces; great-nephews and lots of cousins.
In lieu of cards and flowers, Mrs. Pate’s family requests that you please make a charitable contribution to either The American Cancer Society, any VFW Ladies Auxiliary or to your favorite charity.
Visitation is from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove, which is in charge of arrangements.
