friend. She left this world on January 6, 2022 at age 78.
She was born to Harold and Faye Bryant on November 4, 1943. After high school, Sal joined
the United States Marine Corps and faithfully served our country for 3 years. She spent the
next 11 years raising her children, Sean and Terese, before joining the United States Army -
graduating from 2 military boot camps speaks to what a tough lady she was. Sal again faithfully
served our country for an additional 4 years.
During her time in the Army she met the love of her life, Wayne Cowboy Griffin. Upon
Cowboy’s retirement from the Army they both attended college, where they earned their Associate degrees and learned everything there was to know about carpentry, masonry and electricity. They used
those skills to build an addition to their home - 95% of the work was done by just the two of
them.
Sal enjoyed applying her artistic talents anyway she could find. She enjoyed ceramics, cross
stitch, wood working, and knitting. While living in Corpus Christi, Texas she was an avid
windsurfer. She also found great joy in spending time with her grandchildren and great
grandchildren with whom she shared a love of Harry Potter, spending time at the beach,
turning grand daughters into mermaids and watching their sports activities - they have fond
memories from these special times.
In later years, Sal enjoyed fostering and caring for cats that were abandoned in a nearby park.
Through her entire life she had many deeply loved cats and dogs.
Sal was preceded in death by her parents and two of her grandchildren, Stephanie Greene and
Erik Sampson and survived by her dearly loved husband, Cowboy; siblings Susan (Ty)
Shadrick, Harold (Karen) Bryant & Mitzi (Fred) Holley; children Pamela Griffin, Barbara
(Lyn) Simpson, Sean (Teresa) Sampson, Sandy (Larry) Carroll and Terese (Andrew) Tye; along
with 7 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. All of these she loved and touched deeply.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.crawfordbowerscopperascove.com for the Griffin family.
