Mollie Maria Rhymer-Bersch was born July 6, 1949, in Linz, Austria to Carl and Cecilia Rhymer. As an Army brat, she lived in many places which included Virginia, Massachusetts, California, Austria, France, Germany, and settled in Texas in 1959. She graduated from Copperas Cove High School in 1967 and attended Central Texas College the first year it opened in the Fall of 1967.
Her first job was at the Corner Drug Store in Copperas Cove as a soda clerk. She was later hired by the Civil Service on Fort Hood. In 1977, she started working as a Principal’s Secretary at Halstead Elementary school for 27 years until her retirement in 2004. She claimed it was her home away from home and met so many wonderful people during that time that she considered part of her family.
A second marriage in 1993 to Thomas Bersch brought her so much happiness and new adventures. They loved to travel to Las Vegas, Oklahoma, and visit family. Their family was the most important thing in their lives and shared many outings and holidays together. Being a grandmother brought so much joy into her life. In 2021, she became a great grandmother to twins and experienced life as GG.
Mollie had many interests in life and for several years she participated in bowling leagues and acquired many pins and badges in the sport. After retirement from CCISD, she found a new passion for gardening. She joined the Browning Community Garden Club and made many new friends who also shared the same love of horticulture. She turned her yard into a colorful show place of her very own with flowers, shrubs, fruit trees and climbing vines. She loved to grow them all.
Mollie is survived by her husband of 32 years, Thomas Bersch, son Kevin Allen and wife Naomi, granddaughter Kaylee Kroll and husband Kelly, great grandchildren Carter and Calli Kroll, half-sister Ruth Bretana, and many nieces, nephews and three stepchildren, Sandra Allan, John Bersch and Thomas Bersch Jr. that she adored.
Mollie was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Cecilia Rhymer, Uncle John Muehlberger, half-brothers Walter Muehlberger, Carl, Paul, and Douglas Rhymer, and loving son Brian Dean Allen.
