Myrtle Smith Hummer age 94 of Copperas Cove, Texas went to be with the Lord on August 2, 2019. Born in Evans, La on April 25, 1925 to the parents of Wesley Smith and Terah Craft Smith.

Myrtle married Thurmond Hummer in 1941. Beginning their life together in Louisiana to raise their four children they later moved to Copperas Cove, TX in 1954 where they spent the remainder of their life. Myrtle was a life member of Auxiliary 8577, a chartered member having instituted Ladies Auxiliary 8577 in 1955. Notably, she served as president several times including service as the 1st and 50th president. Myrtle was a respected member and mentor for many Auxiliaries and their members.

Myrtle is survived by her daughter Gwen Litchfield, husband Wayne and son Wayne Hummer, wife Sue; Grandchildren, Robbin Zobel, husband Alan, Chad Litchfield, Charles Litchfield, wife Mallory, Sherry, Deannie, RaeAnn, Joe Lynn, and Melissa; Great Grandchildren, Jordan Zobel, Bailey Litchfield, Raelynn Litchfield, Jared Zobel, Lyndi Litchfield, Lily Litchfield, Byron, Charlie Litchfield, and Wesley Litchfield; Great-great Grandchild, Forest.

Myrle was preceded in death by her husband Thurmond Hummer; Daughter Gail Hummer and son Jerry Hummer; 4 brothers and 3 sisters, Floyd, Dub, Carey, Duane, Evelyn, Alta, and Eva; Grandson Justin Litchfield.

Visitation and Funeral Service will be held at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Homes, 211 W Avenue B, Copperas Cove, TX 76522. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 4, 2019 from 4:00 - 6:00 P.M. and services on Monday, August 5, 2019 at 10:00 A.M.

Graveside Service will be held in Deridder, LA on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. Address listed is Lewis Cemetery Rd. Deridder, LA 70634.

Myrtle was always a very sweet Lady and all that knew her will miss her. District 14 and her auxiliary will miss her the most. But she had many friends outside that district. Rest in peace dear friend. Jeanie Bell

I am sorry i cannot be with all of you who knew Myrtle.Friend for 38 years. Seem like sisters. Always had a good time when i went to Granbury to see her.Spent many New Years and Birthdays.Was with her over the 4 of July before i came to Florida. I will miss her and will remember all the good times we had.
