January 16, 1930 – September 4, 2025
Gwenlyn Oneta Moore Krause, 95, of Copperas Cove, passed away peacefully at home on September 4, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Born on January 16, 1930, in Killeen, Texas, to Jimmie and Myrtle Moore, Oneta graduated from Lampasas High School in 1947. She dedicated her life to her family, her faith, her friends, and her community. Over the years she worked as a nurse assistant and later as the head bookkeeper at the First National Bank in Killeen. After meeting her husband, Arnold, the two owned and operated K&K Meat Market in Copperas Cove for more than 50 years. When the market closed, Oneta went on to work at Bealls Department Store & Crawford Bowers Funeral Home, where she remained until the age of 86.
Oneta was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she served on numerous boards and committees. Her greatest joys were bird watching, tending to her fresh flowers and vegetable garden, traveling, playing and watching sports of all kinds, attending church, and caring for her family. She also loved fashion and jewelry, and could always be recognized by her kind heart, compassionate spirit, and radiant smile.
She is survived by her son, Ronnie Krause; daughter-in-law, Brenda Krause; grandchildren, Taylor Kelley, Weldon Krause, Justin Mullins and wife Caitlyn; great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Ayden; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Nettleship; son, Gary Nettleship; daughter, Micaela Kelley; husband of 62 years, Arnold Krause; and her beloved parents and siblings.
Above all, Oneta will be remembered as a devoted daughter, mother, sister, “Granmommie,” aunt, wife, and friend whose faith and love touched everyone around her.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Halcyon Hospice and all of the wonderful caregivers who provided Oneta with compassion and comfort in her final days.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 12th, from 6–8 p.m. at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove. Funeral Service will be Saturday, September 13th, at 10 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Copperas Cove.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund.
