Owen Barnes

On June 23, 2012, our beloved husband, daddy, and ‘lil papa went to be with our Lord and Savior. He passed away peacefully in his sleep the way he said he always hoped he would.

He was born on May 29, 1956 to Howard and Bertha Parker Barnes in Folkston GA. He graduated from Camden County High School in 1974 before enlisting in the United States Army. He served for twenty years as a 63 Bravo Light Wheel Vehicle Mechanic earning numerous medals and awards. After his retirement in 1994 from the US Army, he became a truck driver with his latest employment at Southwestern Motor Transport. He enjoyed fishing and spoiling his grandsons.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 36 years, Marjorie; his children, Keisha Tischler and husband Clayton, and Chris Barnes and wife Susan; two grandchildren, Billy and Carson Tischler; his mother Bertha Svendsen; his siblings, Michael Barnes and wife Connie, Darrah Young and husband Tommy, Harvey Barnes, Hervey Barnes, and Walter Barnes and wife Tammy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father Howard Barnes.

Services will be held on Friday, June 29, 2012, 9:30 a.m. at Crawford Bower Funeral Home, 211 W Ave B, Copperas Cove TX 76522. Visitation will be Thursday, June 28, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at Crawford Bower Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family requests that a donation be made in his name to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
